This module introduces children to the foot skills and movement concepts most often associated with the sport of soccer. Foot dribbling, kicking, passing, and receiving (trapping) are the primary skills emphasized. However, a variety of other learning outcomes are also addressed within the module’s activities.

Standard 1. Demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns.

  • Outcome E18.K-2
    • Taps a ball using the inside of the foot, sending it forward (K);
    • Dribbles a ball using the inside of the foot while walking in general space (1);
    • Dribbles with the feet in general space with control of ball and body (2).
  • Outcome E21.K-2
    • Kicks a stationary ball from a stationary position, demonstrating 2 of the 5 elements of a mature kicking pattern (K);
    • Approaches a stationary ball and kicks it forward, demonstrating 2 of the 5 critical elements of a mature pattern (1);
    • Uses a continuous running approach and kicks a moving ball, demonstrating 3 of the 5 critical elements of a mature pattern (2).
